  • My BF and I stayed @ Hotel Victoria in a Deluxe Twin Queen room on the 4th floor. I had requested a room that faced outwards towards the street at the recommendation of another yelper who said facing a wall in the morning might be a little depressing. HV was able to accommodate the request and gave us an excellent room that faced Yonge St! The DTQ was a large room with two incredibly comfortable beds, two couches, one desk chair, a desk, three lamps and one arm chair. I am still in love with the water pressure in the shower of this hotel. I took a shower when I arrived home and instantly pouted by the comparison. There were two robes in the closet of the hotel which were a godsend because I forgot mine in a frenzy of packing. Advice: -If you're coming with multiple devices (cellphone, netbook, etc) bring a power bar or power strip. We could only find two outlets plus the one on the lamp. Would be fine for one person. But, for two it was a stretch. -The wifi was on occasion quite slow. Could have been the usage of the day or hour but if you need it for work or travel plans it might be helpful to download and save copies before you're reliant on hotel internet. Downsides: -No bellman -No room service (didn't care much until I was tired enough to miss it) -No in-house restaurant although Over-Easy is right next door(7am-3pm). -One elevator - for staff & guests, on occasion slow. -Small lobby. We only had to wait in it on the way out. But, if multiple guests arrived at the same time I could see that being quite the traffic jam. Upsides: -The shower- omg- the shower -- how I love thee! -This hotel is right near everything and the rare thing it's not near is accessible by TTC (of which there is a station right over on King) -Room Design - no gross outdated mauve and seafoam green toned floral patterns here! -They were currently re-doing the hallways. So, look forward to new hallway wallpaper/paint! -Modern TV with Netflix options. -Great value for the money. Lingering concerns - It seemed the paint on the ceiling in our room was peeling. At times, after a shower, my BF reported that "the ceiling was raining again". There wasn't a bathroom fan with an on/off switch like in many hotels. It was a such a beautiful room I hope its standards don't fail due to faulty or absent bathroom fans. Beyond those minor notes everything was excellent and we were very pleased. I'll definitely be back when in Toronto! And will recommend the location to friends.
