One evening I was walking about Greektown after work and decided to check out this bakery with the purpose of trying out their cupcakes. The place itself looked like a lovely place to hang out and the girl behind the elaborate display counter of ALL their treats was very friendly.
However, this review's sole purpose is to talk about their cupcakes which are not baked there along with the other treats simply based on lack of space. Anyway, on with the real review:
Chocolate Chocolate - Both the cake and frosting is really dense. The frosting was particularly fudge-like and the cake was bittersweet.
Vanilla Vanilla - The cake was a bit too dry for my liking but the frosting was very light and fluffy.
Vanilla Strawberry - This is essentially the vanilla cake with a strawberry frosting of the same consistency as their regular vanilla. Lovely strawberry flavour.
Chocolate Raspberry - This chocolate cake was FAR more moist than the one that is paired in the Chocolate Chocolate cupcake. And the frosting is the perfect companion with the cake. This is definitely my favourite of the lot.
Chocolate Mocha - If I could have a second favourite, this is it. The same moist chocolate cake with a buttery mocha flavoured frosting. If I had one criticism, I think the mocha was a bit hidden and needed to be kicked up a notch or two.
Carrot - Moist carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting. A perfect opportunity to stand out from their other cupcake choices but sadly it's almost there for the sake of being the alternative to chocolate of vanilla. It was okay but nothing to write home about,
