  • I was seen at Deer Valley Smiles roughly about two weeks ago for a Limited Oral Examination. At that time was was experiencing pain on tooth #12 where a the tooth was badly decayed. I explained to Dr Wessef that I do grind my teeth pretty excessively but just wanted to make sure I did not need a Root Canal or Extraction. He then stated that he would refer me to an Endodontist for an Evaluation of a possible Root Canal. At the visit he gave me a prescription to a pain medication in the amount of 21 pills. I took all 21 pills in 5 days because my tolerance is high to any medication due to which is rare but i've been diagnosed as someone who becomes immune to medications. I can however take a higher amount and it will work. I called the dentist to ask for another prescription as I could not be seen at the Endodontist due to being severely sick at which I found out at the hospital that I had Bronchitis. The CSR at Deer Valley then insured that I could come after work and pick up the new prescription. I went to the office after work to be told that Dr Wessef had left and forgot to sign my prescription. At that time I was waiting to see if they could reach the Dr to get authorization via phone but the CSR was then making rude comments about how they are not a drug store. I then was instructed to come back the following day after work to pick it up. I went back the following day to find out that the Dr had then left again and forgot to sign it... The CSR then took the prescription(16 Count) in the back and had someone else sign it. I had scheduled a 4 quadrant deep cleaning so that I could then get all the decay taken care of shortly after. I went to the Endodontist to find out that I may not need a Root Canal(praise the Lord), but need to go to get a mouth guard. I went to the visit for my deep cleaning in all four quadrants of my mouth and it took roughly almost three hours of scraping underneath my gums after over ten local anesthetic shots were administered. I left that day still somewhat numbed but sore from all the scraping and how long my mouth had to be open wide. I went home and started hurting pretty bad and Motrin was not helping. I went to work the next day and I work at a Mobile Dentistry office and am friends with the lead dentist for AZ. My AZ Dr was kinda amazed that all for quads were done at one time, but I explained that I cannot take off much time from work. He asked "Well, didn't they write you a script for pain?" I said "they have in the past but it's gone!", He said "This is a separate procedure and he should have asked you if you needed more!". So I called Deer Valley Smiles and asked if I could get a script for pain, the CSR said "Yes, come here after work and pick it up.", I said "Well can you please make sure and call me back(seeing as i've been through this situation before) to make sure you have it?", She said "I will have it for sure, just come after work to get it". I went to the office as instructed after work and walked up to the counter and then was told by the CSR "You are not going to be happy!" I said "WHY?" she had then told me that the Dr had then left for the day and did not sign one. I said that this is crazy that I have been told this three times now and also paid $400 out of pocket for the deep cleaning and now hurt bad. She had then asked me about the Dr giving me two scrips before and I told her that it was gone. She then told me that the Dr probably was not going to give me another prescription. I said "well, why was I told that one was going to be here when I came here just now?" She just said sorry and gave me a mouth rinse that I was told was actually supposed to be given to me directly after the deep cleaning anyways. I have never been treated so bad by ANY company or practice before. In addition, I cannot believe how unorganized they are. I thought they were nice initially but then found out different. I will never refer anyone I know to ever go there and after telling my co-workers about what has happened, they said they cannot believe a private practice treated me like this! End result... After a 4th time of being told by a CSR, the finally followed through and gave me my script. I have told all my friends that have known me for several years about how i was treated at this dental practice, and they asked where I went so that way they know NEVER to go there. Fortunately, my sister in Christ/Co-Worker has a great family dentist that I am going to for the rest of my work that needs to be completed. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!
