  • Zimbrick VW on Stoughton Rd service is a friendly shiver of land sharks circling to shamefully sham you into unnecessary repairs. They are also incompetent at repairing consistent problems and incapable of reading the codes on my car. I bought this2005 VW Jetta Tdi new from Zimbrick VW east. At the time of purchase I was told it was not necessary to change the oil any more often than every 10,000 miles so long as I checked the oil level and used only synthetic oil. I thought 10,000 miles was a bit excessive, but that is what the manual says. I also double checked this with Zimbrick VW east's service department and they assured me this was the case. The car came back for the break-in service at 5,000 miles & I was told I must bring it in every 5,000 miles to have the oil changed. No explanation for the change in their recommendation. I checked with VW direct and they say 10,000 miles. I have stuck to that for 121,000 miles now with no problems. Next, they have never been able to fix the chronic door latch problem on the driver side door. I finally gave up asking them to fix it. It's a real pain, but there is no point in paying them to fail again. The real hit came when they insisted I change the timing belt at 80,000 miles even though the manual recommends 90,000 miles. OK, so I paid the $1.200.00 and had it changed at 85,000 miles. I also had the tires replaced at this time. About 30,000 miles later the tires were worn out due to poor alignment. I had them replace the tires and change the oil. When I came in to pick up the car I was told the serpentine belt showed cracking and they recommended I have the timing belt changed. They gave me a written quotation for just under $1,200.00 for the work. I hit the roof! Timing belt change at 30,000 miles! not necessary. The very next oil change, they tried to get me to replace my 14 month old interstate battery. I said don't do it. I took it to the Interstate dealer. They checked it and it tested just fine. They also said my blower motor was noisy and it would cost $460.00 to replace it. The part costs about $250.00 (I can buy an after market one for $45.00). The rest I assume is labor. I know for a fact I can replace myself in about 15 min. I have had it out for other reasons and know I can do what I say I can do. How to they figure $210.00 for labor? I sure would like to earn $840.00 per hour. Wouldn't you? Also, I did not change the serpentine belt when they told me I needed a timing belt change at 30,000 miles. When I took it in this time, it had the same serpentine belt in it as before. They said they inspected it, but this time they found nothing wrong with it.. Can't have it both ways boys & girls. Either it is good or it is bad & It can't be good after it's bad either. That violates the first, second & third laws of thermodynamics. Reverse entropy does not exist in this universe. PS: I got a response from the Business Manager Lee K. He recommended I contact the Maintenance Manager Bill Fritz. Why would I do that? Bill is the problem not the solution.
