| - I checked Yelp to find a hookah place close to where I was staying in Vegas and came across this gem. Azuza is family owned and operated, which always makes me happy. It's located in a "strip mall" area. I gave 4 stars because I had a great time, but I didn't pay full price for the hookah (see below for happy hour pricing); I'd like to rate a 3.5.
Inside there are tables and chairs as well as padded booth-type seating against a wall. There are two large TVs on the wall, which is a little distracting when they're both on different channels with the volume lowered so their music can play. But I guess to each their own; someone might really dig that. When I went it wasn't crowded and I sat without people around me. I LOVE that the tables are made to hold the hookah; no knocking a hookah over while trying to get up or as people walk by!
The hookahs are filled with ice, which isn't required at a hookah place but very nice; MUCH smoother. They make a foil "cup" around the bowl so you don't have charcoal all over the place. Just sit and smoke. ;3
They have quite a few flavors for hookah, but sadly no PEACH? If you're not sure what you want, try one of the many house blends; they all looked great. I got FrutLoopz: delicious! Tasted like a fruity mix, but it lasted quite a while and didn't get harsh.
I also had an "Egyptian/Arabic" tea, which was mediocre. I'm used to authentic chai, so this wasn't so great to me (would have liked milk to add as well). But there is a HUGE tea menu, including "bloom" teas which are always good! Next time I'll get something else I'm sure that I'll like. They also have pastries/treats, which sounded good but I didn't end up ordering food.
Staff was VERY attentive, but not annoying. They checked up on me every so often to see how I was doing and liked the hookah/tea etc, and I really liked that they came by with coals frequently AND cleared the hookah/bowl without me saying anything. Nice. When you're done you just walk up to the tea bar and "check out": my hookah and chai cost me around $16. Average for my local area so no HUGE shock. I'll totally be back here.
CONS:
Since seating is one long "strip" against the wall, you might have to be cozy with people next to you if it's crowded.
Two people to a hookah; you have 3 in your group you'll need a second hookah (this is pretty typical)
No cig smoking inside
15% gratuity is added no matter what your order
Each person is required to order a drink
Pros:
GREAT flavors, smooth hookah with great service
TONS of tea blends and they have honey instead of just sugar packs.
Friendly staff
Nice atmosphere
Happy HOUR! $11 per hookah 11am - 8pm!
Overall? I'll be back! Now that I know the "house rules" I'm more aware of what I'm going to order and I'm hitting up happy hour.
They're on Facebook, but beware if you ad them they spam you with lots of invites and weird messages (inbox not on your page): http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8402812436
