| - Bouchon is Thomas Keller's French-themed restaurant located in the Venetian hotel.
The restaurant is tucked away on the 10th floor of the Venetian and walking into Bouchon, you are immediately transported into a Parisian bistro. The interior is classy, with tiled floor, wood pillars and waiters donning traditional French uniforms. This contrasts nicely with the rest of the Venetian-themed hotel.
Their brunch menu is expansive ranging from American favorites like chicken and waffles to traditional French classics like the croque-madame. Not surprisingly, the prices are a tad bit on the higher side. Just to give you an idea on pricing, the cheapest item on the Brunch menu is the French Toast at $12 and the most expensive is the Steak Frites at $33.50.
I wanted something more unique, so I ordered the croque-madame. It's a French ham and cheese sandwich covered in cheesy béchamel (roux), topped with a fried egg. It came highly recommended on Yelp and after eating the sandwich myself, I must say its praise is well-deserved. This grilled cheese on steroids cost $18.95 and it was worth every single penny.
It's a heavy but delicious dish. The thick slices of buttered brioche bread were grilled to perfection with just the right amount of texture. The addition of the sweet melted Gruyère cheese and salty ham lead to an explosion of flavors.
In addition, the dish is served with a giant heap of french fries. They are thinly cut, light and crispy without being too oily. They are truly addictive and deserve to share the spotlight with the croque-madame.
I thoroughly enjoyed my brunch at Bouchon. The food exceeded my already high expectations. Bouchon is a must try if you're staying at the Venetian or Palazzo. It may be on the pricier side, but you need to splurge once in a while in Vegas.
