| - This review is for the Jim Marsh Auto body Shop and not the dealership portion of the place.
I've never bought a Kia and honestly? After you read my review, you'll hopefully have an idea of why I never will.
Long story short: My car was involved in an accident. I called my insurance provider and filed a claim. I had bought a used tire out of pocket to get me home (~$75) and waited a day for the insurance adjuster to contact me.
Eventually the guy from Geico met up with me and after having explained the situation to him, I had mentioned how I had paid $75 to buy the tire to get home. He agreed that the $75 shouldn't count against me and put it in writing, that I would be credited $75 towards my $250 deductible. Score! Keep reading and you'll see why this is important.
Next, I went to Enterprise rental car and got my rental car. I have maximum coverage and so was able to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee for about a month.
Next, I got my car towed to the Auto body Shop and met my Collision Estimator - Sydney. She was very nice, told me they had gotten the estimate and would start working on the car as soon as possible. Things seemed to be handled well, right? Unfortunately my review wouldn't be as detailed if things had gone my way.
So what exactly went wrong?
I always get the rental car agencies supplemental insurance. It was about $23 a day. I figured the damage to my car primarily not being cosmetic but mechanical it shouldn't take too long and the $23 would cost me a couple hundred. That hundred ended up costing me over a thousand. Yeah...thanks Jim Marsh!
Now for a time line of events:
1. So on 11/28 I talk to Sydney who tells me the car will be worked on soon and that they would try and order the parts in the next few days.
2. On 12/5 I receive a call from her telling me that they're waiting on the Geico adjuster to come back to the shop because the damage was more than the initiasl estimate but that they couldn't get a hold of him.
This confused me. Geico is supposed to use this body shop because they're partners with it and my hope was that any issues that arose would be handled fast because they'd be able to communicate with each other faster. Not so.
3. On 12/7 a full 9 days after I had dropped off my car I get a call from JMK [Jim Marsh Kia] telling me that they got the Geico adjuster to approve the update damage inspection and could now order the parts needed.
This pissed me off because my car literally sat in their shop for 9 days without it being worked on. Each of those 9 days was costing me $23 with Enterprise's Insurance coverage. So before my car could even begin to be worked on I was already $391 in the hole by the time the parts would arrive.
4. On 12/12 I get a call from Sydney telling me that they don't have a for sure date on when my car will be finished but that if all goes well, it would be that Friday. An additional 2 weeks.
5. On 12/14 I get a call telling me that the car is still being worked on and that they are waiting on tires and that they are putting the order that day.
For some reason they couldn't have ordered all the parts together and instead waiting almost 20 days before they ordered my tires. Which means that this whole order would add another week to my wait. Or another $23/day in enterprise fees.
6. On 12/20 I get another call from Sydney telling me that my car isn't ready yet but with any luck my car should be ready by Friday the 12/22! At this point I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle considering I'm at a total loss of $506 to Enterprise. And what's worse? My coverage on my rental car expires the following Monday.
Again, I have the MAXIMUM rental car coverage and these guys kept my car to the point where I'm about to have to start paying out of pocket for the insurance coverage as well as the actual rental car rate.
7. On 12/22 I get another call from Sydney. My car won't be ready and because Monday is Christmas they are closed. Fucking amazing! Thanks JMK!
8. On 12/27 I get another call from Sydney telling me that they are hurrying to get my car ready for me and that with any luck I'll be able to get it Friday. At this point I'm paying out of pocket.
9. FINALLY on 12/29 over a month later I am told I can pick up my beloved car. So remember how I told you I was supposed to be credited 75 towards my deductible? Well, I wasn't.
I was charged the full $250 and was told that I would be getting a check in the mail for $50 for some sort of credit. I don't understand what the credit was for and why it wouldn't be the full $75. At this point I had paid over $1000 in total fees.
I never got the check.
Note: The car itself was left in perfect cosmetic condition, the interior was vacuumed upon return but it wasn't dusted - which you'd think they'd do considering it sat at an Auto body Shop for over a month.
Tl; dr: they suck.
