Other than the cluster of restaurants lakefront, retail venues at MonteLago Village are scarce.
The Village is going through another wave of store closures. Par for the course out at The Lake, unfortunately. Even the popular home decor store and the cigar bar closed.
I went to check out the monthly liquor walk put on by Bottles for Barks in August. Whiskey was the featured liquor and they had a nice variety at the 10 tasting stations. The turnout was pretty sad considering the crowd that convened here in the past for the beer fests and wine walks.
There are some new shops & restaurants such as Lobsterman and Essence & Herbs. The former Ravella hotel is now a Hilton (for now) though it wasn't remodeled that I'm aware of.
I had dinner at Sonrisa Grill, which is a great space with a cool bar and patio. They have a lot of happy hour deals too. This place was busy likely due to it being a Saturday, and there is live music on the adjacent grassy hill on Saturdays.
And, scaring away visitors is probably NOT a good idea, but I noticed a sign barring food & beverages from the Village near the Auld Dubliner. It states to patronize our retail venues.
Huh, that is a little crazy and very snotty! Makes me want to drag a picnic lunch out there and go to town right on the cobblestone street.
