  • Phillip Mareaux, one of the barbers in residence at the Canyon Ranch Spa, is an absolute artist. I'll talk about the rest of the place in a minute, but before I do, I just need to wax poetic about this man. The ease with which he plied his craft (a straight razor shave) was refreshing to behold. I was immediately relaxed and remained relaxed, with Phillip working his magic as we engaged in conversation as effortless as his razor work. The rest of the spa was just as lovely. Expansive, richly appointed and utterly peaceful. My week here converted me from the Qua. I'm a regular at Canyon Ranch from now on. And hopefully a regular with Phillip, king of the shave.
