The first best thing about this little soupenanny is the menu. Not cause it necessarily makes sense (choose from unspecified mystery meat #1, unspecified mystery meat #2... and does this soup have meat or not, cause I can't tell from the picture?!), but cause of its entertainment value. "What's the difference between 'nice' noodles and 'neat' noodles?" inquired my friend. Why is that soup 'most popular with Japanese youth'? (Some words replaced in lieu of bad memory). Applause for wonderful adjectives - "magnificent" chicken? Yes please!
The menu divides soups into three categories: regular soup (I don't remember what they really called it), hot soup and fancy soup (I have replaced the actual word with 'fancy'). My "magnificent chicken" soup was thickened with starch, and although I found the broth a little bland (where's the hot sauce in this joint?), the noodles were tasteh. Is it true they're hand-pulled?? My homegirl got the hot soup and I liked that broth much better.
I've heard good things about the Kenzo in North York, but my one meal here was hovering around pedestrian-satisfactory. I'll give it another go sometime, but wouldn't make a special trip, nosir.
