| - It's rare that I give a one star review, this can't be more than the third time, but I was just so sick of the way I was treated at this dealership that I have to write about my experience.
I've been interested in the Kia Soul EV for some time, and when I checked Kia's website, they referred me to this dealership for a test drive. I called the dealership and told them which car I was interested in, they told me I could come for a test drive but they wanted me to come in first to have a discussion with a salesman. That should have been my first warning.
This all happened on a Saturday afternoon last fall, near closing time. I rushed over to arrive before closing, and when I got there I was told the salesman was busy and I'd have to wait. OK, even though they asked me to come in.
I waited for about 30 minutes of nothing.
Finally a salesman came out and tried to sell me the regular gas powered Soul.
I made it clear that I was willing to hear about it, but the reason I came was specifically to try the electric version. That's when he told me that they didn't have any electric vehicles.
I was understandably unimpressed by this waste of my time.
I asked to speak with the manager, who told me that they don't have any EVs on stock, but I could make a $500 down payment and order a new Soul EV, which they would build and deliver, at which point I could test drive it when it arrives, and if I'm not satisfied I don't have to finish the purchase.
I wouldn't call myself a car sales expert, but this sounded pretty fishy to me.
I declined that particular offer, and they tried to convince me that maybe if another customer orders the car, I can come and test drive their car. Also strange.
The salesman finally took me out for a 15 minute test drive of the regular gas Soul, so I could see what it was like. He spent 10 minutes in the driver seat telling me about the car, and left me with a grand total of 5 minutes actually driving the car myself. I made it as far as Devonshire and Royalmount, then right back to dealership, 2 KM total. Very (un)helpful.
I normally try to bring a balanced perspective into my reviews, and play devil's advocate, but I haven't heard of any positive experiences at this location, and other reviews I've read elsewhere online seem to indicate a pattern.
I hope they change their attitude, because they're giving Kia, and car dealerships in general, a really bad name. Then again, most car dealerships probably already have a bad name.
