| - My husband and I spent a night at the Tuscany to avoid driving home in a state of disrepair--you just cannot have the same degree of fun when you are obliged to drive home afterwards, as anyone knows.... The hotel is much different from mega-resorts in Las Vegas, which inevitably require a great deal of walking past endless shops and restaurants. Tuscany Hotel & Casino features three-story Italianate buildings separated by attractive grounds. The buildings are not immense, and though you must exit each one to access paths that lead to the lobby and casino, distances involved are not excessive. Our room was very generously-sized, with a nice kitchenette corner--and it was wonderfully clean.
We saw the beautiful Laura Shaffer and her "Noir Nightingale Trio" at the Piazza Lounge, where we ate dinner, as well. Laura Shaffer is a Vegas standard, a wonderfully elegant singer, and the food was very good and moderately priced (simple, well-prepared traditional Italian meatballs and pizza).
After Laura Shaffer's performance, we visited the casino and lost some money, but the feeling there is very pleasant, so pain was minimized. Casino staff are helpful and pleasant, as are the persons who handle front desk duties. The Tuscany, which I was surprised to learn was built just eight years ago, advertises itself as an old-fashioned Las Vegas hotel, and it is, in every way. I really like this place and now recommend it to friends and family. In the words of General MacArthur, "I shall return".
