| - Firstly, I give my main PSW, Ashleigh, 5 stars. Ashley and Erica (whom I see less frequently) can also enter a situation, follow directives and get the booking done. The rest of the PSWs have no clue. But, I don't get more bookings with the 3 that can actually do them, I get ones who walk in and stare at me instead.
I have no idea what is going on. Directors and Regional Managers do not respond to concerns and do not take my needs seriously. I'm bed bound 100%, sometimes can't move, speak or tolerate talking/sound, and yet they send me PSWs who cannot follow simple written directives. They send PSWs who have an English fluency of about 30% (and don't know words like "cupboard" or "bedpan"), where the Employment Standards Act states that if communication is essential to the job, you CAN ask for someone who is fluent in the language.
I communicate by email, but sometimes they don't reply. They don't let me know when my PSW calls in sick which consequently leaves me stranded, alone and at risk. VHA ignores communications about my needs and has left me near hypoglycaemic coma, put me into seizures and left me in unresponsive states from lack of learning about my disability and creating a proper team of PSW support. VHA has weeks to arrange booking coverage for when Ashleigh is away, but waits until last minute or until after the booking is supposed to have started to start arranging coverage. Even the managers are shocked at who HR hires and state "they have no other workers". I'm surprised I'm still alive. If they finally acknowledge my needs and support them, I will reconsider changing my rating. After the past 3 weeks of avoidable seizures, lack of care, inappropriate care, communication bungles, etc. this is the best I can do since they've compromised my health and NOT kept me safe. I hope this changes.
The pic is of me after seizing + hitting myself for the 3rd time within a week d/t VHA PSWs.The PSW was told not to talk, but that was all she did, which put me into seizures. I did not even have a booking at the time she walked in, so I was not prepared with notes, ear protectors, etc. And, they told me her name was J, but a week later I realized it was S. Please get it together folks. People's lives are in your hands; their deaths and regressions are too.
