  • Hey you guys lets go the Orchard and pick up fresh vegetables and fruits! What?!? No Way?!??Personally I was shock that Vegas has a real operating Orchard in this large desert city. I was pleasantly suprise to discover this cool and fun Orchard that has been around for years. To be honest, I still can recall field trips to a few farms when I uses to live in the Bay area and plantations in Hawaii. Upon arrival, we cant help but notice that we came across large crowds of locals with reusable bags and wagons. Which, I kinda wish that we brought along with us. However, do plan ahead. We learned that the best pickings are earlier in the day and less crowded. Plus, Gilcrease is very popular in the Fall/Autumn season especially when the Pumpkin Patch is in full season. Which, to my suprise was a sight to see. Brings back so many fun memories and takes you down a stroll to memory lane. Pay attention to marked signs throughout the orchard. There is one main entrance and your greeted with informative signs, leading you to various sections and paystations when your done picking. There is a foodcourt where your able to get fresh apple cider, kettle corn and the popular apple cider donuts! Another fun adveture that is open to the public is the hay ride located at the foodcourt that picks up guest to tour the 80 acres with an informative guide while driving a tractor. There is a sizable chicken pen that is cage free for the chickens to roam around. Plus don't forget to check the beehive, a cool and informative setup that makes you appreciate the nature that surrounds us. I will have to come back to try out their foodcourt because the line was too long when we went. PRO-TIP: -Open to the public for FREE, do arrive earlier in the day. The Orchard gets really busy and crowded during the pumpkin/fall season and after noon hours. -Wear closed toe shoes. There is alot of dirt and twigs around the orchard. Unless you want dusty feet! Lol -Bring reusable shopping bags and depending how much your picking up and a wagon especially if your needing a couple large pumpkins. -Allow sufficient time when travelling with family and friends because parking can get crazy and there is alot of WALKING!! -Hayride is Open for All and its FREE. There is ONLY 1 pick up and drop off stop, near the foodcourt. NO other Stops are provided on this ride. -Families bringing strollers. I would reccommend ones that are more durable/off road/traction wheels. Came across alot of families struggling with strollers that have small and barely traction on their wheels. -Remember, to Have Fun!!! 2017 Yelp Review #43
