| - My husband recently wrote a review but because he's not a credible yelper (has only wrote 2 reviews in 5 yrs and has no profile picture) it isn't being published so I will copy and paste it here. I'm credible I hope.
I had noticed an oil leak on the left front side of my 2010 Ford Escape, having had the oil changed frequently at Sun Devil on Thunderbird, I took it to them to diagnose/repair the leak. The seal on the drivers side CV coming out of the transmission was replaced. At that time they added a black light dye to the engine oil. The vehicle was returned a few days later for a check with a black light to see if there was any more leaks. None manifested under black light. The mechanic then told me that the driveshaft/CV had a lot of movement "more than I had ever seen". I asked how the seal could be changed without checking the bushing/bearing, and how much was the 'play' in the driveshaft? I was told 'there is no way to measure that' which is BS. Their diagnosis was to remove the transmission, send it out for replacement of the defective bearing, and re install. This would take a week, cost over $2000. They also told me that i had to have the timing cover removed and gasket replaced, cost $1100, they had said it leaked, there is no evidence of a leaking timing cover.. A quick check online shows this repair (driveshaft/CV seal and bushing) is covered under TSB#12-11-6. The job can be done without removing the transmission, and is rated at 2.3 hours, and cost of all new parts about $140, that is a long way from a week to 2.3 hours and from $2000 to $140 and 2.3 hours labor. I also question the mechanic who performed the initial seal replacement, not noticing the worn bushing, or not checking. I would expect a professional to investigate a little to find out why a seal has been leaking, not simply change the seal.
Well it's now 5/14 and for only $577 + tax we got the job done in less than a day.
I have pictures of the estimate. I have the paper that says 'estimate' on it right here in front of me. You're lying in your response saying you never gave us one. I took pictures of the part when Beau was telling me he had never seen this before. My husband didn't need to look at it again. So going fwd with your lies and lack of responsibility and professionalism you are no longer servicing any of our vehicles. Not even to fill the tires with air.
