| - I'm a fan of Thai food since it generally has a nice mix of sweet, spicy, and salty flavors. Luckily, the Phoenix east valley has a fair number of Thai restaurants to choose from. We decided to give Thai House a try since we were in the area, thinking this might be a cool hole-in-the wall option. It's stuck in a semi-sketchy strip mall, and the restaurant is very small. About 7-8 small tables and rather dingy. Nonetheless, it seems to receive good business, given the full tables and steady stream of takeout customers. As long as the food is good, right?
Well, it's mediocre. Unlike other Yelp reviews, the staff working was great for us. Attentive and friendly. I wish the food equaled the level of service. Tom Yum soup is a staple of Thai restaurants and one of my go-to choices. However, it was overly sweet and too tomato-y. We also had the Pad See-Ew, which was average to slightly below-average. I will say that the Pad Kee-Mao (spicy noodles) was decent. They are generous with the spice level, if you are a spicy food-fan. You can bump it even higher than the usual "1-5" if you ask for "Thai spicy".
Price is reasonable but comparable to most Thai restaurants.
Overall, the experience here is so-so. As I mentioned above, there are plenty of Thai restaurants in the Phoenix area. Since there are others with nicer decor, more seating, better food, and similar prices, you might as well spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.
