| - There's one thing that should matter more than anything else at a hotel: did you get a good night's sleep? Yes. Yes, I did. This Residence Inn opened just over a month before my stay. It's a lovely looking hotel. I arrived after 11 p.m. and was greeted by probably the most professional and courteous desk staffer I've ever dealt with. He was fast, polite, friendly, and just a pleasure to deal with. In no time at all, I was checked-in and into my room.
Across the hall was a loud group of what sounded like high-pitched voices, so I'll say young-ins! The desk clerked called me to ensure my room was okay and everything was set for my wake up call (never had that service of checking before). I told him some kids were having a good time across the way. In minutes he was upstairs with two fresh keys and walking me down the hall to an upgraded room, apologizing for the noise and inconvenience. Wow. I was impressed. I was just letting him know that some kids were having a good time, but a little noisy for other guests.
The room upgrade was fantastic. It was silent at that end of the hall, and I got a great night's sleep, which was vital given how busy the following day would prove to be. Had I been staying more than 1 night, I would have been very comfortable in either of the rooms I saw. The Residence Inn Champaign is my new go to hotel and where I will stay in the future. Kudos!
