  • The staff at Cooper Creek made our first moving experience horrible! My fiance and I, who are both college students with no prior rental history decided to move out. We looked around the area of Southpoint Casino and finally decided on Cooper Creek Apartments because Carmen, one of their leasing agents knew how to sell the place. We were so excited that we decided to pay the application fee, security deposit, and reservation fee that same day. We asked Carmen if she needed anything else from us and she just asked that we bring the prorated payment for the remainder of the month. Literally the day before we move in (which is a whole month and a half after we booked), Carmen calls my fiancé to inform him that we still needed a consigner for the lease because we had no prior rental history. Both my fiancé and I were so confused because we specifically asked her if anything else was needed when we paid the reservation fee. She told me that it was something new the "company" was asking her to do. Also, that the cosigner would have to pay a $40 credit check fee. I asked to speak with her manager and she said "uh ok." She puts me on hold and then says that her manager is busy and will call me back. About 10 mins later, the manager calls me to apologize because somehow they forgot to mention the cosigning part. I told him he was putting me in a tough spot because we did not have anyone who could cosign, especially with such short notice. He then proceeds to tell me that the person who does cosign would need to have good credit and a rental history. At this point I was feeling so upset because I had bought new furniture and everything was packed and ready to go. Thanks to the universe we ended up finding a cosigner and were there first thing in the morning. Our cosigner literally had 15 mins to spare to sign and initial the application. We were informed that the credit check would cost $45 and I said that I spoke directly with the manager yesterday and he told me $40. The leasing manager whose name is Robert comes to get us. After our cosigner was approved and she signed and initialed everything that was asked of her, she left to work hurriedly while we reviewed the lease contract and other details. All of a sudden, Robert remembers that he has more paper work for the cosigner to review and sign. We asked if she could back the next day because she was already on her way and he says that he can't release the keys unless she returns and signs the paper. I was so frustrated and disappointed at this point. During the inspection of the apartment, we found the counter top had parts of the side scrapped off and the "updated" vinyl flooring had scratches, and some tearing. Also, the washer is not working properly and one of the gate keys does not work. We actually went to the office THREE times to ask them to fix or replace our gate key and they said they can't do anything about it, so they had to give us a "special" code. The very next day, we found a letter on our door from Carmen again asking us to go to the office at our earliest convenience because there was still more paperwork to sign! WTF. My fiancé and I were so excited to move here but now we can't wait for this year to be over so we can find apartments with staff members that actually make us feel welcomed! Sorry for such long review, but I hope it was useful to those who plan to move here.
