| - National Car Rental is my company's preferred car rental service. It's mandatory for us, the employees, to sign up for Emerald membership. It's a very handy thing to have on hand, when you're on the clock.
To get here, you can jump on a shuttle at the airport or long term parking, in order to rent a car. The shuttle is about every 15 minutes. If you are not an Emerald member, you will need to check-in at the National Car Rental counter, in order to get your car. If you're an Emerald member, you simply follow the signage to the garage. Pick any car located in the Emerald Aisle. I prefer 4-door sedans with enclosed trunks, since I want to keep my luggage hidden, until I can check into my hotel. SUVs are nice, but there's no cover to hide your stuff you store in the back. National Car Rental usually has nice, new cars available. Every car that I've rented, in the last 3 years, has been new. Some still had all their fresh-off-the-fleet pastic covers on them. No complaints here!
When you pick your ride (typically an intermediate sized car), be sure to do the following:
-Adjust your rear and side view mirrors.
-Verify the amount of gas in your tank. If it's not full, be sure to let the person at the exit gate know.
-Check for any damage around the car.
-Make sure that the hood of your car is closed properly!
Seriously, check the hood of your car is closed properly. I've had 2 instances when they haven't been properly shut. Both times, I didn't notice it until I had left the lot. Pulling over to the side of a road to do so would be a problem.
When you leave the lot, you stop by the check-out booth. As an Emerald member, simply providing your drivers license. They'll scan the car and match your name to your reservation and then you're off. I've never had an issue with any of the cars breaking down.
Return is easy for everyone. Return to the rental car lot. Pull into one of many lanes at the National Car Rental floor in the garage. An attendant will scan your car. Get your receipt and you'red done!
