After reading the reviews on here, I almost cancelled the reservation that I made for dinner. Many complaints stated that the place was overpriced. I'm not sure where their previous experiences at fine dining steakhouses were based. This is not an Outback or Texas Roadhouse. Upon opening the menu, the price point was exactly what I expected. When I made my reservation, I requested a table by the window, which was honored.
We started out with the oysters. I personally do not eat oysters, but the other three people in my party do and they were so impressed that they ordered a second dozen. I ordered a crab cake and it was wonderful. It had a crispy breading around it and inside was wonderful shredded crab meat. Delish! I will say that we brought two bottles of wine from our wine collection at home and the corkage fee was an extremely reasonable $25.
For the entree, we all ordered the Land and Sea Ménage a trois. Filet mignon, lobster tail and grilled shrimp. Amazing. We all cleaned our plates and also had a side of creamed spinach that made the "non creamed spinach eater" eat his words.
We ended our meal with the chocolate cake and carrot cake. I was skeptical of the carrot cake because it contains walnuts and pecans and I do not care for them, but they were almost undetectable and the cake was perfection.
Voodoo is such a wonderful experience with the best view in the city. It's a shame more people don't have better things to say. Until next time...
