First of all, I am really excited that there is finally a ramen place here in the Southwest! So when we saw that this place opened, we tried it right away.
I learned that "omoide" means "memories, recollections" in Japanese which is reflected well within the interior of this ramen place. The design reminds me of a street in Japan where you find a random ramen spot and discover that it's a diamond in the rough. It is very well-lit (love the paper lanterns!) and spacious. I like that the windows are big letting more light into the place. Most ramen places make it so that their interiors are dark. It makes me feel a little claustrophobic sometimes. The ambiance inside Omoide is homey and comforting.
The food here is decent. Not the best. It is hard not to compare it to Monta Choya. Their broth for their ramen is pretty bland. I think that is a good thing. It is refreshing to have a ramen place where you can control how salty you want your broth to be. The portions are big so you get your money's worth.
Overall, this is still a pretty good ramen place. They are new so there is always room for improvement.
