After watching Guy Fieri's Triple D for months, I am itching to go check out some of the places highlighted. Finally had a chance to do that when the BF asked if I wanted to go La Piazza. When we arrived in Glendale, I was surprised to see that it is such a tiny place, almost drowned by all the vacated shops around it.
We ordered their stuffed shrimp for appetizer and Italian Stallion pizza. I am not a big fan of shrimp unless it is very well grilled. This one comes with a good amount of crab meat and they sure are very well grilled. My only thumbs down for this dish is they over use olive oil, which got soaked up into the toasted bread. The Italian Stallion pizza is a mouthful of flavor. The base is just plain tomatoes, which gave the bread tomato-ey taste. The meat are very well spiced and the chef is very generous with it because the entire pizza is literally covered with all kinds of meat. The crust is thin and very fluffy with slight char from their brick-oven. Definitely one of the best crust I have had. We also got their chocolate cannoli for dessert. They have a rich filling with just the right amount of cheese flavor, some nuts for crunch and a hint of cinnamon. The chocolate refers to the shell rather than the whole cannoli. It is big enough for two to share.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable lunch and the service was excellent. Our server was very attentive, making sure our drinks were refilled at the right time without having us ask for it. It has comfortable arrangements and good lighting for food photographers. I definitely recommend it if you're in town. If not, I still recommend at least going there once.
