I use to love this place. Every time I would want something very good and on the cheaper side I would come here. I would get the rice noodle soup with chicken every time. It tastes so good especially with lime juice and Thai basil. It is the candy of soups, or at least I think so. However, I went once and I must have felt too adventurous and ordered some type of noodle dish, I forget the name. The chicken looked pan seared but it was room temperature and the rest of the dish was cold, which did not mix well with the chicken. It was covered in a clear broth and lettuce was piled high. This could have been normal for the dish, but I just did not like it and the chicken weirded me out. I gave my leftovers to my boyfriend who said he enjoyed it...but I am pretty sure he will eat (almost) anything.
I gave this place 4 stars because the service is terrible. The food does come out quickly but if you have a question about the menu, forget it. The waiter either does not understand or does not care to answer. Also if you do not know what you want when the waiter gets to your table he seems upset/mad even though they could gave you 5 minutes to look over the menu. Once when I was there they made a large party of 5+ move tables once they were seated with their drinks to squeeze in a table for 2. That was definitely entertaining to watch, but it was just bad service in opinion.
Anyways, this place has the best soup I tasted in Pittsburgh. Just make sure you know what you want when you get there and don't mind sitting in close proximity to other diners!
Oh and the spring rolls and peanut sauce are delicious and tastes fresh. mmmm....
