  • What I like: great place for gifts and food items especially at Xmas time. Interesting selection of unusual home decor items (mostly made in China stuff but I have found a few better quality items made in Germany, England etc.) and I like their ktichenware section - a lot of glass if you are into that. I have found some cute candy dishes in the past. I have also bought shoes there although that's not usually the main reason I go there. I have found some qood quality name brand nightgowns that are so comfortable and I have recently purchased kids' bedding. The Desert Ridge Marshalls is the only Marshalls (of the 3 in the Phoenix area) to sell kids' bedding. They do not carry everything - I could not get the matching sheets so it's whatever they happen to have. What I don't like: There seems to be a lot of BROKEN items just left on the floor. Even my young daughter spots them easily. I guess they think someone will actually buy these items. I think it makes the store look tacky. They need to go through and take the junk out and neaten the place up. Their clearance section is horrible! I won't even go down that aisle, it is such a mess. It's really like a large rummage sale. The shoe dept. is also always a mess and it is hard to try on shoes because of a lack of sitting areas. I guess I am one of the few customers who actually put shoes back where they belong. There are usually long lines to check out. I hate the mere 30 day return policy. I like to buy gifts early and I am out of luck if there is a problem with the gift later - so be careful about your selections. They need to go to a 90 day policy like other good stores. The Scottsdale Marshalls is neater but does not have the selection that the Desert RIdge one has. Even the employees at the Scottsdale location knew that the Desert Ridge one was a mess. Also, it is hard to find a worker on the floor if you need help and the last time I did, they didn't seem to know much about the store. So, if they'd train their workers better and clean up the store, it would be a much improved shopping experience.
