WOW, what a great experience. Today I stopped in the Scottsdale store intending to replace my putter. A helpful man named Albert tested me using a iphone and a ping system to measure stuff to figure out what type of putter I should be using and then put me on their fitting studio which had all sorts of cameras, big TV Screens and video equipment.
Albert bent my putter then had me put again. He identified my problem as having my shoulders open at set up in a subsequent video. Made some adjustments to my putter's lie angle and helped me with my alignment. I putted again. He made some more adjustments and I putted again then he sent me home with the SAME putter I came in with. "I'd love to sell you a putter, but your putting with the proper type already". He told me.
WOW, in an industry renown to push the latest and greatest gotta-have gear on us year after year it is refreshing to encounter somebody who wants to help a golfer PLAY BETTER instead of just sell him stuff.
No, I didn't buy a putter today, but I will be a loyal customer for other clubs and equipment for myself and my family from this day forward.
The entire staff was enthusiastic and friendly. I think all 4 of the employees in the store said Hi as I browsed. These are quality people not somebody just looking to collect a paycheck.
One more observation. Their store isn't huge, but it had an IMMENSE SELECTION. Certainly more than Golfsmith and possibly more than the PGA Superstore which is 8x it's size.
