  • This was the most ridiculous experience I have ever had with an HHonors hotel in the 4 years I have been traveling. I booked two rooms for the night of July 25th more than two weeks in advance. I was in a local wedding and could not check in in the afternoon so I checked in online ahead of time. Upon arriving at the hotel, I found out that the two rooms I had reserved and "checked-in" had been given away and the hotel was totally booked. I waited almost an entire hour while the person at the front desk tried to find rooms anywhere else in Moon, but everywhere was booked. Finally, after my girlfriend started to fall asleep in the lobby I decided to drive an hour and a half home. Unfortunately, the second room was for a friend from Chicago who did not have anywhere else to go. He eventually found someone local to stay with after having to wake people up at 2am in the morning. I called the hotel that Monday and spoke with a manager named Candice. There wasn't much she could say except to apologize and offer points to make up for the inconvenience. Not really acceptable but fine. She offered 75,000 points (according to her enough for two free nights) and said it would take a couple of days to see them in my account. It has now been 10 days and there are still no points. This is the 2nd time in 3 weeks that I have checked in online and my room has been given away when I arrived. I am a Platinum member of IHG but thought that the Hilton hotels provided better onsite amenities. I'm 3 nights from Diamond with 1/3 of the year left to travel, but I am starting to rethink staying at HHonors hotels based on my recent experience. PS. The lady at reception said it was the policy of the hotel to overbook their rooms and then they make whoever is working the night shift find rooms at other hotels for the guests with nowhere else to stay. This is totally unacceptable to me and I would imagine it is to many other travelers out there. Stayed July 2015
