So i popped my tire yesterday and I was more mad about having to go and deal with tire people than actually getting the flat. It gives me anxiety having to go into any car/tire shop as a young woman because I constantly feel like they're trying to take advantage of my lack of knowledge. Every tire shop experience I've had has been negative where I'm close to tears calling my dad asking what I should say as they keep bombarding me with my "car problems." I walked in and it was very busy, it was noon on a Wednesday. The guy at the counter asked me what I needed and I told him. I was a little short and rude with him just because I knew I had to hold my ground and just walk out with what a needed, a single tire. He said he would go look at my tire and give me a quote. He said $135 and I asked if that was the lowest tire I could get. He replied honestly it's mid-grade but because of your car (2006 Jaguar S-Type) it's the lowest to ensure it won't pop later on and it matches all your other wheels. I asked if that was with or without the ASU discount and he said without and it would take about $13 off. I agreed and left my car there since they were busy and it would be a few hours. I called 2 1/2 hours later to see if my car was ready. They had just finished and I asked for a final final price since I didn't know if fees were included. I was given the same price quote and I said my ASU discount hadn't been applied yet. My new total with the discount was $121.11. I was thrilled and asked if the car was completely done. I was just making sure they weren't going to have me come look at the tires and try to tell me all my other ones were trash and I needed a whole new car basically. The guy on the phone, Eric, reassured me everything was done I just needed to pay. When I got there the man who helped me quoted me the $135 total and I told him that that price didn't include my ASU discount. Without questioning me he gave me the $121.11 total I had gotten on the phone. He also signed me up for their rewards program and said every dollar is a point and I had already spent over $100 so I have a $10 coupon on my account. Not one guy tried to up-sell me. I have never had such a great experience at an auto repair shop. I wish I would've gone to them a long time ago instead of Discount Tire where they have 8 people coming up to you trying to scare you into buying stuff you don't need. Thank you Pep Boys for giving me what I needed with no questions asked. I truly appreciate it and will be telling everyone to go to this location.
