Canadian version of Whole Foods (WFs)- had me intrigued. For a frequent WFs shopper I was shocked to find out this store had opened.
Having been opened for several months, Goodness Me is kicking it into high gear. A newsletter is issued in the local weekly paper a plus for someone that doesn't live close by- highlights 2 week specials. As always the online version is also available.
NEW Offering:
Shop online! Great option coming from a natural food market as there's nothing like it. Free shipping on orders over $59- trust me you'll never have to worry about hitting that minimum. Prices are comparable with Whole Foods most items are around the same price as far as regular prices go. Sale items tend to be a tad cheaper than sale items at WFs.
Decent soup bar usually 3-4 options- vegetarian choice available. Only down side is a disappointing salad bar- not enough options. Hot bar- again little to offer- food preselected and prepared for you. The food is also on the heavier side (lasagna's, samosa's, mash etc). I personally love the WFs hot and cold food bar and by far rivals all others.
Produce section is small- all locally sourced from the Goodness Me farm. Prices are quite a bit lower than WFs. Meat is also locally sourced from their farm (antibiotic free).
Smoothie bar- frozen fruit, protein and greens powders, fresh greens, and use sweeteners like dates or bananas.
Lots of free classes and cheap coffee $0.95 (16 oz Organic Fair Trade).
Staff is friendly and offer more of a personalized shopping experience.
The only way to shop at these markets is to scout for sales as most items in store do eventually go on sale- that's when I stock up on my favourites.
