| - I can't believe that I have never written a review for this restaurant. How rude! And now one of my favorite lunch spots is being sold to another local chain. I just hope that the new owners don't screw everything up.... I've seen that happen where a new owners takes over an existing restaurant and decides to make too many tweaks. Bleh! ("Oh, let's just add turmeric to all of the existing recipes and that will be our "signature" touch") You get my point. I just feel bad that they have been so negatively impacted by several fires within the business and I'm sure that has screwed around with their business. However, if you want some decent New Orlens vittles, Nola on the Square will treat you right.
I have had almost their ENTIRE lunch menu. (I know, that's ridiculous) You can't go wrong with any of SOUP, SALAD, & SANDWICH DUOS. Seriously! Your tummy will be as tight as a drum after eating one of their po boy sandwiches. (Shrimp, Catfish, Alligator or Roast Beef, you can't wrong, especially served with the Voodoo fries.)! The lunch entrees are bomb diggity too. Shrimp and Grits, Grilled Catfish and my favorite, Poulet Frites et Salade! Oh my!(Do you know how hard it is to get a chicken crispy on the outside and moist on the inside? As someone who cooks, it's not the easiest hat trick to pull off.) The appetizers (Crispy Fried Alligator, Fried Green Tomatoes) and soups (Red Beans & Rice, Gumbo Ya-Ya and French Onion) are also, right tasty!
I'm trying to stay in town one night for their Grilled Chicken & Dumplings, because I've got a feeling that that dish is going to be off the chain.
My sister, Luch, was stationed in New Orleans and they have some AMAZING restaurants. However, if you can't make it there, go check out Nola on the Square and I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.
