So my wife's birthday was approaching and I was trying to think of somewhere she hasn't been and I immediately thought of Soba as I had previously enjoyed a Yelp event there so I made reservations for dinner.
The decor inside is beautiful. Contemporary modern with an Asian flair. Once we arrived we were immediately seated. A few minutes later Robert, our waiter came with our menus and also told us about the specials of the day.
Since the Yelp event I had studied the menu and knew exactly what to start with. We started off with those amazing Korean Chicken Buns, Korean Barbecue Ribs and Spicy Pork Lettuce Wraps. The chicken buns were incredible! The chicken had a crispy skin but was hot and juicy on the inside and went perfectly with that pillowy bun. The Korean Barbecue Ribs were just superb! Tender meat with a nice tangy sauce and the Spicy Pork Lettuce Wraps were delicious as well!
For our entrees the birthday girl chose the Spicy Cantonese Beef Noodles which features beef tenderloin, rice noodles, basil, sprouts, garlic, local beans, scallion and I chose the Korean Fried Chicken which is literally half of a chicken. The chicken was cooked the same way as the chicken in the bao bun was so it was outstanding! Perfectly seasoned with crispy skin on the outside and hot and juicy meat on the inside.
When I made the reservations I let them know that it was my wife's birthday and our waiter Robert let her chose any dessert for free so she chose the Chocolate Pretzel Stack. It features wonton pretzel chips, malted milk chocolate cream, miso caramel and kinako truffle. IT WAS EPIC! One of the best desserts we have ever had!
Robert was very patient with us as we had a lot of questions about the evenings entrees before we finally made a decision. He had a extensive knowledge of the food and was able to figure out what we would and would not like for our main entrees. He took excellent care of us the entire evening and made sure the we were never without a full glass or needed anything.
Soba is now one of our favorite restaurants and we both highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been yet.
