| - I went with a group of friends to Thunder Down Under when a promoter found us. One thing I have to say is that everybody, from the promoter to the bouncers to the servers were incredibly nice and professional! The bouncers joked and danced with us, but were definitely on duty, too. For a group of women, we really felt safe there. Cathouse really went all out to make us experience the fantasy Vegas brings! And the speakeasy decor was incredible--decadent, elegant, and sexy. The DJ last night was amazing, and played a mix of everything.
The promoter got our group of 14 two tables in the lounge, with free bottle service. We were told that it was $360/table, but we were getting it for free as long as we took great care of the server. No problemo! The server brought us each a bottle of the house vodka, decanters of OJ, cranberry juice, 7-UP, and sparkling water to mix.
My complaint is that it was quite clear from the beginning that the vodka was watered down. Big time. We finished both bottles of vodka between 14 of us, and should have been absolutely intoxicated. But we could hardly taste or even smell the alcohol, and knew we were getting a watered down product. So while we had happy buzzes, it was a bit of a letdown to know that we'd gotten a lesser product. When we asked if we could buy another bottle we were told it would cost $325. Yeah, that won't be happening--not for diluted vodka!
But we happily tipped the server--she was very friendly, and took good care of us. I could've gone to a liquor store and spent $15 on a bottle of vodka, but honestly, I wouldn't have gotten the same experience. Because really, going to Vegas is about the experience. And if you want to party like a high roller and have an awesome time--especially for free like we did--I can't complain too much about the vodka being watered down. The upside is that none of us were hungover this morning ;)
