I haven't had Carvel in a few years. I was surprised to learn there was one in Charlotte. All I've ever heard about was the creameries and Rita's since I've moved here. I fell in love with Rita's custard and refused the desire to go anywhere else. My little one hasn't had Carvel in I don't know how long, so I surprised her with a visit.
They have a big freezer full of cakes and ice cream sandwiches. I couldn't believe they still made those clown face shaped cakes with the upside down ice cream cone for a nose! I told her that was the ice cream cake we all wanted when I was a little girl.
We ordered our Ice creams and sat outside to enjoy. One thing that's above the rest is the amount of ice cream you get on that cone. It's massive. We are so used to the smaller sizes at Rita's and other places for more money. Not here at Carvel, more ice cream for a little less. I'm not sure how many other places do the candy shell over the ice cream, but they do that here. She could barely finish it all.
