| - The most difficult part of my Saturday was deciding what to order at this place... #firstworldproblems.
We were lured in by the signs offering fresh seafood and the gaudy lobster outfit on the mannequin that greets you at the entrance. Once inside, you realize this unsuspecting place is actually a wonderland. This mom & pop shop promises freshness, or your money back. They offer both raw seafood to take home or prepared foods dining in/taking out. Menu options are a plenty and the photos don't lie. Items seem a bit pricey but are wholly justified by the portion sizes. A quick glance at what other folks were eating and I - like the beautiful salmon lying before me - was hooked. There was a toddler feasting on what looked like fish and chips, but was actually shrimp, and he had had to use both hands to grab hold of the massive piece. In addition to the fried offerings are sandwiches, tacos, grilled seafood on salad, pastas, soup (i.e. cioppino), and poutine. Mom (aka the sweetest lady ever) takes the orders and Pop runs the open kitchen in the back. The kid's hand-sized FRIED SHRIMP won us over so we ordered a serving with coleslaw instead of fries. Sweet, fat shrimp is made even more massive by the puffy batter, then lightly dusted with a spice blend -- so perfect you barely need the tartar sauce. Except that that's good too.
We had a sampling of their SMOKED SALMON which was not overpowered by the saltiness and had a rather sweet aftertaste. What better way to top of the meal than the ultimate ANTI-palate cleanser?? Game changer right here.
Already know we'll be back to try the mixed grilled seafood on salad next time.
