  • I tried to make an appointment in the next week or so with my GI doctor for a relatively urgent problem, however, I had to play ring around the rosey with the staff. First the front desk staff forwards me to the medical assistant to 'triage' me-- of course the medical assistant doesn't answer the phone even though the office just opened (I called at 8am on the nose). And she doesn't return my call almost all day so I have to call back around 2pm (because I am also making my work schedule for the week, and I know they are closing in a few hours) so the MA says she will staff it with the doctor and get back to me... she also said that I am still supposed to schedule with the front desk (?!). So I was annoyed because it seems that one hand doesnt know what the other hand is doing- as the front desk did not advise me of this when I initially called to try and get in (or when I called the second time to reach the MA about scheduling/triage). The MA also did not get back to me at all yesterday. So much for 'triage' as I am not sure they know what that means. Furthermore, my doctor doesnt have ANY openings until mid June. So I guess if my issue is a bleeding stomach ulcer or something I just have to deal with it for 3 months... Or pay thousands of dollars to my local hospital... for an issue that is not an 'emergency' (by the way, some insurance wont pay for hospital visits if they aren't a true emergency). Though this is not an emergency issue it is an urgent issue... The office could at least call back and offer other suggestions such as seeing PCP, going to urgent care, or something if they are truly incapable of squeezing anyone in for several months!! Even though these are more bandaids and not true solutions. I mean, can I not even get in with the PA or an NP in a sooner time frame-- I don't know because they never got back to me! In my opinion, it is rude not to call people back and let them know the outcome of your efforts... or lack thereof. I think I am going to see if I can find a more closely located doctor that is able to get me in at least in a few weeks for a newer more pressing issue-- with staff that is a bit more on top of it. Other issues I have experienced are when you call whether it is front desk or billing department- your call often times goes to a voicemail and then you are at their mercy to get back to you... which is a problem for me because with my schedule I am calling you when I have time to talk and later may not be a good time for me so that results in phone tag. Also the wait times are long in the office. Once they forgot about me and I waited for over an hour.... Once I almost had to walk out at my last visit as I had another doctor appointment afterwards and no one had come in yet. So just as my husband and I were going to walk out the door the doctor came in and did a rush visit. And once I was supposed to do some sort of test and they ran out of test kits or whoever was supposed to do them wasn't there- so I had to make a second trip back to the office later. Overall, I guess it's safe to say that I am not impressed. I am only giving it two stars because I do like my doctor there.
