| - I love hiking at this place. So instead of heading right down to the river we decided to head right up to the hot springs, we were soooo looking forward to it we even took r 8year old daughter and out 2year old German Shepard, they both love hiking. Not this time sorry to say, I would nor recommend taking ur dig in this direction we were about a mile or two in and r poor dog ripped up all four of her paws. We had nothing to put on her so we thought. We ran into this first group of people so very nice they helped us and wrapped her feet for us so we could get her out. We headed out and my husband did not want to take her back to that same spot where she ripped up her paws so we went another way and we came to a spot where there was no way we could get out bc of the dog and our daughter, just not gonna happen. So by this time the poor dog is so HOT and very hard for her to stay on her feet, we headed back the way we came. Finally about half way back it was getting so hard for our dog. My husband had been carrying her on and off but she is a 100 pound dog and it was pretty hot out (2-8-15) and we were getting close to running out of water, my daughter and I went ahead w/out them trying to find some people to help us or to get cell service and call a ranger or someone. Finally about after half hr not seeing anyone and my phone w/only 5% and no ranger # we see my husband but no dog, he left her behind. We ran to the truck to get more water I loaded up my pack went back down to sit w/the dog while my husband and daughter drove to find someone to help us get her out. I went back to the spot where my husband said he left her and she was there in that spot he left her fine. These 5 wonderful people found her and thought we had abandoned her, no way I had to get water and come back to stay w/her until we could get her out. The 5 people two wonderful girls and three great very helpful guys. They carried her over their shoulder and then finally put her in this tarp to carry her out, 4 of us helped carrier her until we could not carrier her anymore, we saw three more people and asked if they would help us, finally we saw a truck coming thinking it was a ranger coming to help, nope not at all it was my husband and daughter, my husband decided to drive in and get us BC the ranger could not help. U will not believe what the ranger said to him, he said he should get a shovel and ho barrier her BC u will not get her out then he said don't u have any friends. OK who is this person what the hell we were not going to leave her out there. We got her in the back of the truck gave her some fresh water and some food and wrapped her paws up and headed into town to get her to the vet. They vet took her in and called us a few hrs later telling us she was fine and we can get her tomorrow. Her paws will be wrapped up for a few weeks and she was just s little dehydrated but she is all good. So no more hiking for her.
Do not get me wrong about this place it is fun and if u r experienced and u have plenty of water go for it. Have fun go to the Hot springs and to the river so nice.
