| - THEY SCAMMED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always used to go to this gas station because it is the closest to me and in the most convenient area. The price of the gas doesn't matter that much to me, because face it, honey, we're on the west coast, the gas is never gonna be lower than $2.20. ANYWAY, I always got gas here and never had any problems... until two days ago.
I went there to fill up my tank, and I put my card into the card reader on the gas pump, and I accidentally put my pin number in incorrectly, so the pump denied me service and asked me to go inside. Fine, cool. So I went inside and told the clerk what had happened, and she asked me how much I wanted on the pump. The card reader inside "wasn't working" and I had to swipe twice. This happens often, those readers don't always work flawlessly, but now I'm sitting here putting two and two together and somehow I'm ending up with 11. I paid for my gas using DEBIT, keep that in mind. And i'm not sure if it's just my bank or not, but when you pay with CREDIT, a hold is placed on your card for a day or so, and the payment goes through later. But when you pay with DEBIT, the payment automatically goes through with no hold. Anyway, I got my $15 worth of gas and everything was good. Well the next day, I logged onto my bank account online to check my purchase history to make sure nothing sketchy was going on, and I saw something I didn't want to see.
I log on, and see, that I had 2 charges for gas the same day. They were in two transactions, one under the name "exxon" and one under the name "tesoro." I immediately jumped online and did some research to make sure it was the same gas station. It was. I'm not completely sure why they have two names for their gas? (Probably to scam people. Crumb snatchers...) And I know for sure that this is incorrect because the last time I had gotten gas before this was about a week before at a different gas station, and the payment had already gone through. And the last time before THAT was literally a month earlier. And i never pay with credit, because I don't like having a hold on my card. I also searched to see if anyone has ever been in the same prediciment as me, and there were quite a few articles about fraudulence at gas stations. So, this whole thing is pretty common. Many people I read about had the same situation where they were denied at the pump and sent inside, which is a perfect way to be double charged. I'm going to call the gas station tomorrow and see what can be done about giving me my money back, but I will not be going there again. The AMPM by centennial hills hospital is better.
So I was charged $30 rather than $15. ALSO, I am a 17 year old girl. I am young, I am not MADE OF MONEY, so $15 can go a long way. In my little tiny car, $15 is damn near a full tank!
