I was so excited to see that one of my favorites (Chinatown location) has come to my neck of the woods, so after a day at reunion park I convinced my daughters to come try it out.
this eastern ave location is cute and they have hot foods also (which I have not tried). guy at the counter was nice and helpful and even accommodated me with a few samples of their drinks.
we ordered:
black sesame w/boba
honey milk tea w/boba
thai tea w/boba and pudding
peanut butter banana smoothie
oldest daughter had the black sesame and she hated it. in their defense, she's never had this particular flavor and did not ask for a sample. she asked the counter guy and he said it was really good. one of his favorites. so she went with it. soooo with nothing to compare it to, I can't really say if it was of good quality or not. I personally didn't like the taste either.
youngest daughter had the honey milk tea. this is her go-to drink at any other boba place. she didn't like this version. I tasted it and agreed. it was a little weak and the flavor of the tea didn't really come thru. very weak (I want to say watery but it wasn't watery. just not enough flavor)
son had the PB banana drink. he loved it. but then again he loves anything with sugar! I tasted and it wasn't bad. it was pretty good. the PB was not overwhelming and it was actually pretty yummy.
after tasting the kids' stuff and sampling a couple of others that I didn't like, I had the thai tea. I guess you can't go wrong with thai tea. it was good. not weak or watery. strong tea flavor and nice milky consistency. I LOVE their boba and pudding here. the boba had a great chewy consistency and good flavor. the pudding was yummy, again with great texture - like a custard, not firm or jello-y. I love pudding in my drink and stopped getting it because my other boba place has the worst pudding ever.
consensus:
1. 2 daughters did not enjoy and would not return. not even to try other flavors.
2. son will return. he returns to anyplace with sugar.
3. I would return just for the boba and pudding in the drink. the thai tea is no-fail and maybe next time I can ask for a honey milk tea, extra strong. if they can pull that off, I'll be a regular.
