  • I was super excited to go here for the first time this weekend. To preface, I love coffee and espresso-the stronger the better. I try to branch out from going to Starbucks and attempt to frequent the independents. I was a huge fan of Russo Espresso in Fairview Park but it has since closed. Ok. I really liked the decor and setup of Erie Island-there are plenty of tables with proximity to outlets and decent chairs for sitting extended periods while yelping! It has a warm, inviting feel with the local artwork and colorful walls. I had read yelp reviews on both locations of the coffeeshop and planned to get a cappuccino and cup of coffee, as I had to get some schoolwork done. The reviews for the espresso seemed positive, and I was looking forward to experiencing it especially. There were 3 female baristas on staff, and I believe the male owner was there too. The barista who took my order was very friendly and welcoming-that is well appreciated, trust me. I hate crappy customer service when you are going to be spending ample cash on coffee beverages. However, the barista who prepared my beverage was rather snooty. I didn't get a nice vibe from her- no saying thanks/have a good day, just a dirty look. I stayed in the store to drink beverage while doing work-it wasn't too busy other than couples sitting and enjoying morning cups of joe. I came early. As I drank my cappuccino, I did appreciate the coffee art- as I had a heart shaped latte sitting in front of me. That being said, I thought, wait a minute I ordered a cappuccino and not a latte-difference exists in the amount of milk. I didn't go to request another-I figured I'd drink it and then grab some coffee. The espresso was very bland tasting-that disappointed me. It was hard to taste even as I got further down into the cup, having started to finish the contents. It was a bummer. I then packed up laptop after having done work and ordered a cup of coffee-I asked what the strongest blend was and ordered the signature roast based on a newly shifted barista's recommendation. Sadly, the coffee was weak-I'm not sure if it was misbrewed or something but it was not enjoyable. I really wanted to like this place.
