  • Visited this bakery for the first time today after eating at the Chinese restaurant a few doors down first. When we first walked in the door, I did not like the smell at all. I don't know what that smell is, but it was not good, at least not to me. Sort of stale flour or something. We were greeted right away by a very friendly young lady. She asked if we'd been there before and when we said it was our first visit, she offered each of us a free cake bite. The Coconut was divine! My husband said the lemon was tangy, sweet and delicious! After the goodness of our initial bites, we decided to splurge ($5.25 for 2 cookies) on a couple of the huge specialty cookies. My hubby wisely chose the "ice cream cone" cookie, and it was great! The pink icing that made up the "ice cream" was the perfect hint of strawberry frosting. The icing on the "cone" (bottom) was just sweet; there was no flavor to it. The cookie itself was thick, soft and perfectly baked! I, on the other hand, did not choose widely, Grasshopper. I chose the Lime Coconut Cookie. Again, the cookie itself was baked to perfection, but I did not taste any coconut or lime at all. The icing was piled high, and there was a hint of some flavor, but I definitely did not taste either lime or coconut, and neither did my husband in the little bite he took. Maybe it was the lingering flavors of the Chinese dinner I had eaten 2 hours before (I don't think so, but maybe), but the Lime Coconut Cookie was definitely not "limey" or "coconutty" enough for me.
