| - The Canary, and the Silver Snail in which it's located, has become a big social hub for the geeky creative set in Toronto since the Snail moved from Queen West. Not gonna lie - I practically live here. Get a latte, grab a seat, and take a look around: you'll see everything from writers, musicians, and up-and-coming comic book hopefuls, to kickstarters, broadcast personalities, and burlesque stars. On one occasion there were even some MMA fighters. The geek scene in this city's multi-talented and interwoven in surprising ways, and everyone's generally friendly.
The majority of the baristas really know their stuff, and the espresso's topnotch. There are always a few specialty lattes that change from season to season - the maple Captain Canuck and the marshmallow Staypuft are two big favorites. The Nutella-spiked cappuccinos and lattes are the definite signature offerings; if you don't dig licking a Nutella-covered spoon after it's been used to stir your order, you probably died long ago, and now exist only as a shambling husk of a human being.
I feel bad reviewing this place because every new person that discovers it becomes one more butt in a seat I'd like to be using myself. But hey, one must give props where they're due. The Canary's fast becoming a landmark in and of itself.
