This grocery store is conveniently located close to home, however I have made every effort to avoid them due to a series of bad customer service experiences. The first time I need to run in quickly to grab some ice cream, it was late at night but they stay open until 1am. I went to walk in at 1240 and an older woman who has been really un friendly in the past when she works self check out was standing at the door telling customers they were already closed... talk about losing business Smiths! Is she really someone you need managing your evening shift in this economy? She had bright red short hair and glasses, never smiles ( you will know her when you see her) Today I went in and was making a large purchase of produce and a comforter they had on sale. My total came to $100 after the new checker made several mistakes because he didnt know how to ring certain thing up. I was patient and didn't mind the wait since he seemed like a nice man. When it came time to pay I said I would like to do a split tender $70 on one card and $30 on another.. not that difficult right? Well he charged my card the full amount and for the third time needed a managers assistance. Chauntelle comes over (this woman just looks miserable to start with) and proceeds to tell me its to late my card has been charged. I told her she needed to refund me and process my transaction correctly. She huffed and began to do as I asked, I asked her how long it would take for the funds to be returned to my card and she said in a very nasty tone 24 hours unless you call your bank.. I said wow thats really an inconvenience for me, she said again in a nasty tone- well that's just how it works. She gave my receipt to a bag boy and asked him to go make a copy, I was handed to receipts apparantly for teh refund and started walking out with my goods. The entire time not one of the staff there that was assisting me had appologized for all of the time and incovenience I was caused. I am a patient person and was kind during the whole transaction- based on their attitudes you would think I was the one inconveniencing them by shopping there. When I got to my car I realized I still had never been given my receipt for my purchases. I walked by inside and walked up to Chauntelle to ask for my receipt. She said in a nasty tone- well I was waiting for you! I said well since you didn't communicate to me at all that I needed to wait for my receipt, how would I know that? I walked out, feeling I will never shop at the Smith's again. Wal- Mart is down the street and so is Albertson's and they have great customer service... Good luck Smith's.
