| - First time here for NYE dinner. Awful experience. Service was S L O W. We made reservations, arrived on time, but we were seated 20 min later. Drink orders were taken 15 minutes after we were seated. Our entrees were served 1.5 hours after ordering, but they were served cold. We complained to the manager and our server. The manager did a horrible job of apologizing. He was not sympathetic at all. Just telling us lies that our food should be out shortly. If they knew their Kitchen was backed up, they should've told us from the get go.
Also, whoever was letting the food leave the Kitchen cold, should be fired.
The manager did eventually comp our entrees. He also should've comp'ed our entire dinner AND given us vouchers to come back and give them another chance. Our server Joey was very apologetic and sympathetic. The person who was refilling our water and ice teas, did a good job also.
Donovan's is a $$$ restaurant, but Highly over-rated. It is most definitely not a 4-Star restaurant. With a $$$ restaurant, you expect a certain level of food & service...but you're not going to get it here. There are plenty of other reputable steakhouses in the Valley that live up to their rating and provide exceptional service & food: Eddie V's, Steak 44, Any Maestro restaurant, etc.
ATTN Owner of Donovan's, here are a few tips for you:
1. OVER staff on high peak holidays
2. Limit menu to a Prix Fixe dinner only (so you can order enough and not run out of au gratin potatoes)
3. Send the Mgr (who was working NYE) to acquire 4-star restaurant skills - he wasn't cutting it. Someone who is not honest and sympathetic to unhappy customers, should not be in his position.
I hate to say it, but Donovan's was an awful way to end 2017.
Hopefully the owner reads these 1-star reviews and makes the changes needed; otherwise they'll be putting an "Out of Business" sign on their door.
