| - Trying out Snap locations, wheeee. Equipment-wise this is almost exactly the same as the Richmond Hill (Major Mackenzie) location, which means everything looked better 5 years ago and just does its job now. The best part is the studio tucked at the back, where you can stretch, do calisthenics-based exercises, and connect with your more limber self. They hold classes here too; snatch them up!
Owners and personal trainers are very personable here. There is a variety of bars for the deadlifting crowd, including the trap bars that won't break your RSI-ridden back, which has been hunched from too much Youtube-surfing. As a deadlifting newb, I'm very much pleased. Best of all, I can live out my MMA street-fighter fantasies with a punching bag that's located inconspicuously at the back. Just bring your own gloves.
I dig the number of bathrooms and changing rooms they have at the back... but the locks are all broken and there's no soap. Seems unhygenic, much? The gym was pretty dead on a Friday afternoon too, although I detected the sweet scent of an herbal origin at the back.
Hint: Parking at the back is a lot easier than the front, where you're bumping shoulders with shoppers from Mark's Warehouse and Winners. On the upside, your post-workout needs are taken care of by the nearby fast-food joints, and if you forgot your workout shirt--well head over next door! The verdict is: I'll be back, but only if I'm in Markham already for delicious food.
