| - I'm one of those girls who has a hard time committing to a hair stylist. I went for a few years with an assistant stylist at a salon in the east end, but when he moved and his prices leaped, I had to say goodbye! Since then, I've tried a bunch of the downtown salons, home-cuts, student cuts, you name it, done it all! And in terms of the styles I've had, I've had my head practically shaved, a pixie cut, asymmetrical, swooping bangs, bobs, etc, been there done that!
Now I'm entering the most challenging of all hair cuts, LONG STRAIGHT AND WITH A HEAVY FRINGE. (I'm not kidding, some people can't seem to master the art of the fringe) and after reading and hearing some good reviews I booked with Aveda.
So this April I reserved a convenient appointment and pad a mere $40 for a great cut with an Academy Student. The wash/cut/style took just over an hour (most of it was spent on perfecting my bangs) and voila, I was done! I really like the cut, she did very simply long layers with a heavy fringe and gave me a bit of a curl for the rest of the day, I got compliments left, right and centre.
But it wasn't just the cut that was great, the salon offers free tea/coffee on entrance, everybody is REALLY SWEET, the atmosphere is chatty but calm and they don't push their products on you. Really, they don't!
Fast-forward 5 weeks and I went to get a bang-trim (complimentary!) and it wasn't as good as my original fringe, but it's enough to get me through until my next cut which will be in a few weeks.
As long as you know what you want, Aveda is a great place to go.
