Since the demise of South 21 drive in on South Boulevard a few years ago, this is my go to place for classic drive in food that is not overpriced.
I started coming here in 1980 when I worked around the corner. The Zack Special is just as good today as it was 38 years ago. In 1984 I moved to the area and still come here occasionally. Their trout dinner is almost exactly like the original South 21 version, the only difference is that the slaw is a little less vinegary but still close enough that I can eat a pint at one sitting. The flounder dinner is actually better than most Gaston county fish camps, and the Zack Special hamburger still sets the fast food standards.
Zack is long retired, and I believe that his son George is not there quite as often, but the food is the star here without the Southend yuppiffied ambiance or prices.
