| - I've been a regular at sassoon for years...just not with the stylists. lol. I have had cuts from all different levels. From director level to academy level.
For director - I recommend Fritz. He is awesome and I think has even done celeb hair. I remember he took only an hour or so to do my cut. so fast! and i loved how it grew out...it was still really nice (including after washing and blowdrying it myself later). For stylists, I havent found one I loved (as in 100% satisfied and feel they "click" with me personality wise) but right now, I would probably go with Paolo whos a stylist (he's actually cousins with my ex-coworker! haha, small world). He is super nice and can work with my thick asian wavy hair. ^^ I would go to him but im on a budget atm.
With academy cuts, I havent had any real bad experiences because there is a supervisor, usually Nhi, an asian woman who watches over them. Its sometimes free or $25 with tax and tip included. Also, they are very detailed about cutting so you would need to carve out around 3hrs of your time to do this (cut, wash, blow dry). NOTE - sometimes you need to be flexible to what they want for their hair models. one time i came there, i did not want bangs at all but after Nhi kinda pressured me...i gave in. lol. HOWEVER, it did turn out really cute and i got tons of compliments so might not necessarily be a bad thing when they want to cut your hair a certain way.
My only bad experiences is with one stylist, i think his name was kevin? kinda forgot but first time around he gave me a good hair cut and for the second time gave me one i hated. i think the second time he was really busy, i wasnt specific enough about what i wanted or there was a miscommunication? maybe all 3! but i was like TT__TT and he offered to take 30% off the next time i saw him (however for me i give one or two chances and if it doesnt turn out good....end of stylist relationship. lol) i dont forget easily and sometimes hold grudges - not serious ones. haha. I am sure i had one or two more eh experiences but overall it was good.
I also have coloured my hair there. I got highlights, the most risky thing i have ever done for my hair. i basically have virgin hair, so yes dying it did cause my hair to majorly dry. you must condition well! initially i think it was too bright but after like a month or two it started to fade and look more natural. then it looked kind of caramel dark brown. much nicer.
Overall: I would recommend this place, try the academy if you have the time. just be specific and clear about what you want. make sure they understand what you are looking for.
