I've lived in Pittsburgh for 3 years and kept this restaurant in the back of my mind to try one day and I finally got the chance; unfortunately it let me down. I'll list the positive first: good food. It is good, but not great and for what they charge, it should be great. I ordered the Kobe beef with a sweet and savory sauce with fingerling potatoes. The sauce needed to be mixed together and that was not explained in the menu or from the waitress (more in that in a bit) so my first couple bites were actually disappointing. My wife tried a salad, which was good but not memorable. I was also disappointed with the lackluster beer list and the decor. It's designed to look old but with the Christmas pine cones, it looked 'dirty old' and was not appetizing. Also, seating was uncomfortably tight. I sat too close to people on either side with wait staff bumping our table while standing too close to take orders. Lastly, on the decor, they don't have their own bathrooms! You need to use the theater. I was recently in a restaurant in Dallas that was awarded one of the top 5 bathrooms in Dallas. I didn't know there was someone keeping a list but if they went here, they would be very disappointed. Finally I wasn't impressed by the staff. The people greeting didn't seem happy to be there and our waitress didn't explain anything on the menu and seemed not to know about it. When my wife asked about the speciality salad, she shrugged and said"I don't know; I don't like warm salads." When I asked for a recommendation, she merely told me the top 4 entry items were most popular. I feel the only reason this restaurant is popular is: A: it's near the theater and B: Pittsburgh doesn't have too many places to compete for fine dining... yet.
