| - OK, so check this out. I know I have been long dormant with the Yelp reviews (bad girl, BAD GIRL!), so to make it up to ya'll, I am now embarking on a casino-by-casino tour of my new hometown of LV, NV, and will include reviews of each as I tour them. Now, these will not include room stays, but just schlepping around the premises - eating, drinking, and checking out anything that moves or doesn't move. Got it? OK, let's proceed...
Review #41:
sort of the epi-center of the downtown Fremont St. Experience thing; it has a bit of an old-school vibe, but is not run down at all; in fact, you can tell they are making a real effort here at modernization; nice dining option additions from the Landry's group, such as Vic & Anthony (steakhouse), Cadillac (Mexican), and Grotto (Italian) - I feel like I am back in Houston again!; nice hotel check-in area, backed by the Chart House with a huge aquarium; the outdoor pool area also has a mega-aquarium, and unlike most Vegas casinos, actually keeps their pool area open at night as a spot for drinking & hanging out; I would rate the GN as 3 and 1/2 stars, but forced by the Yelp system, I must round down as it's not quite a 4-star property yet; best craft beer bet = it's certainly not great, even at the supposed "beer bar", but it's not awful either; I snuck next door to the downscale Four Queens, which surprsingly has a Chicago Brewing Co. outpost where you can get decent local drafts to go ($5 for 22 oz.)
