  • My main worry about Vegas is that a majority of the restaurants here are "façade food," where the price of the food is covering the fancy décor and not amazing cuisine. And a lot of people are suckers for this, just as a lot confuse quantity and quality. After a previous day of gambling on food and hitting the jackpot, the house won this one. Red Square looks great in an ironic soft of way, with busts of Lenin and workers revolution posters in a shrine to capitalism. We chose the prix fixe menu because that would give us the greatest variety. It was pricey, but we hoped worth it, and we could share. Caviar appetizer was overwhelmed by sugar cookie wrap, and the foie gras also battled against the brioche and sweet berry jam. I know this is a current way of presenting foie gras, but the balance was off. Salt and pepper calamari was barely a step above TGIFriday food. The filet mignon was a tender, but slathered with an overwhelming blue cheese sauce. My Beef Stroganoff (the only thing on the entire menu that can be called Russian) was tasty but meh. I could have been having this meal at any old place and for much less. Same thoughts for the dessert. Yes, they have a huge vodka menu. The cocktail menu, though two pages, didn't have too many surprises. I nixed anything with pre-made mixes and soda (Sierra Mist!!) and narrowed it down to only a few to choose. The one I got was okay, nothing to write Moscow home about. Server was okay, but did keep returning with rhetorical questions like "isn't the plating of this food beautiful?" Er... Some older reviews suggest this place was once good. I guess that's gone the same way as the workers' dream.
