I think I like the concept of La Diperie better than the execution. Which is to say: it's basically like one of those Finite Math exam questions from high school:
"if trendy Trinity Bellwoods area soft serve ice-cream place has X number of flavours of soft serve and Y number of flavoured dip options and Z toppers in either cone or cup: how many combinations could you get?".
SPOILER: it's a lot.
So I like it; it's novel, it's fun, and - as many other reviewers have pointed out - this location benefits from the park directly across from it which is a perfect sit-n-lick (GROSS DID I JUST TYPE THAT) spot.
The ice cream itself is fine enough; honestly, for my money I'd prefer a soft serve cone from McDonald's or DQ. The dips vary; sometimes I think they taste really 'synthetic-y'. I think La Diperie is more about the process and the showmanship. And I get this, I really do...it is a cool concept. I just don't think I'm their target demo.
Yelp note: I do love that they offer a mini cone...it's a perfect size to satisfy a craving, but not ruin a meal #WINWIN
